Appointed December 2021

Cynthia Martineau oversees Ontario Health atHome, and brings to life our mission of “helping everyone to be healthier at home through connected, accessible, patient-centred care.” Leveraging the collective strengths, achievements and expertise of staff across the province, her Executive Leadership Team works to build a seamless integrated health system for our patients, their families and caregivers.

Through her leadership, Ontario Health atHome, a pillar of the health care system, is evolving to meet the needs of Ontarians by embracing health care modernization and adopting innovative models of care, while working with system partners to support the development of Ontario Health Teams. Cynthia ensures that Ontario Health atHome delivers on our mandate to deliver excellence in home care and service delivery, as well as long-term care placement, and help in accessing services in the community.

A collaborative visionary leader known for building relationships with multisector partners to achieve health system transformation, Cynthia draws upon more than 35 years of clinical and health system leadership experience. Past roles include serving as the Interim Regional Lead, Ontario Health East and CEO of the Champlain, South East and Central East Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs), where she led the region’s COVID-19 pandemic response and supported the transition of three Home and Community Care Support Services organizations. She has also held senior leadership roles at the former South East LHIN.

Cynthia began her career as a nursing officer in the Canadian Forces, advancing from clinical care to operational deployment oversight of all aeromedical evacuations. After 21 years of proud service, she retired as the Commanding Officer of 24 Canadian Forces Health Services Centres.

Cynthia holds a Master of Sciences in Health Science as well as the Canadian Health Executive (CHE) designation since 2003 with the Canadian College of Health Leaders. She has also completed the Advanced Health Leadership Program at Rotman’s School of Management and holds Certificates in Health Care Administration, Acute Care and Health Care Administration, Community Health from the University of Saskatchewan.

The road ahead is paved with opportunity and possibility. I’m proud to work with our dedicated and compassionate staff across the province to create a strong system that provides exceptional care – wherever you call home.
