In 2005, the government of Ontario passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act
(the “AODA”). It is the goal of the Ontario government to make Ontario accessible by 2025.
The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (“IASR”) under the AODA that require
that effective January 1, 2013, Home and Community Care Support Services Central East
(formerly the Central East Local Health Integration Network (Central East LHIN)) establish,
implement, maintain and document a multi-year accessibility plan which outlines the
organization’s strategy to prevent and remove barriers for persons with disabilities and to
meet its requirements under the IASR

Accessibility Policy Customer Service

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (the AODA) is a provincial act with the purpose of developing, implementing and enforcing accessibility standards in order to achieve accessibility for persons with disabilities with respect to goods, services, facilities, accommodation, employment, buildings, structures and premises. Under the AODA, Ontario Regulation 429/07 entitled “Accessibility Standards for Customer Service” establishes accessibility standards specific to customer service and the provision of goods and services to the public.

Home and Community Care Support Services Central East is required to meet the requirements of accessibility standards established by the AODA. This policy applies to all staff, volunteers and similar parties who deal with the public.

Adult Day Programs offer social, recreational and therapeutic opportunities for frail elderly as well as individuals experiencing memory loss. They are designed for seniors who need regular assistance and who are lonely and benefit from socializing with others. Participants currently live at home.

Ministry of Health only provides coverage for a maximum of three doses for an eligible patient.
Determining and providing proof of patient eligibility for IV Remdesivir therapy is the Prescriber’s responsibility, namely:
The individual does not require hospitalization;
AND the individual cannot take Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir and ritonavir), e.g., due to a drug interaction or contraindication;
AND the individual has a positive COVID-19 test result (molecular or rapid antigen) and has had symptoms for fewerthan 8 days at the time treatment is initiated (dose 1).

Home And Community Care Support Services Central East Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Annual Status Report 2022.

According to the Home and Community Care Support Services Central East Multi-year Accessibility Plan, all requirements within this plan are met within the mandatory timelines for 2010-2025. Home and Community Care Support Services Central East continues to evolve the following:

• Ensuring website and web content is accessible based on the IASR requirements.
• Identifying and removing barriers.
• Upon request, meet the needs of those with accommodation requirements, both internally and
externally.
• Ensure documents developed meet accessibility criteria.
• Continuously receive and respond to feedback in an accessible manner. Feedback is welcomed
for continuous service improvements.
• Continuously improve and advance accessibility practices for both internal and external stakeholders

Regardless of where you live, this program can deliver personal support services when you need them: scheduled during the day, evening or overnight, with on-call support available 24/7. Since the program is publicly funded, there is no cost to you.

Behavioural Specialized Units Patient Info Sheet

Behavioural Specialized Units (BSU) serve patients who have a primary diagnosis of dementia and/or significant behavioural disturbances that cannot be managed in the community or a regular long-term care home.

The Behavioural Support Outreach Team-Emergency Department (BSOT-ED) program works in partnership with Behaviour Support Ontario (BSO) services led by Baycrest Health Sciences. The BSOT-ED program connects patients and families with the broader BSO programs in addition to responding to ED referrals.
